Oakley and Meta Just Dropped the First Performance AI Glasses

Meta is officially pushing into a new era of smart wearables—and this time, it’s teaming up with Oakley to do it. The result is the Oakley Meta HSTN, a pair of AI-powered performance glasses designed not for scrolling or selfies, but for action, movement, and the outdoors. Think: skaters, cyclists, golfers, surfers. This is Meta’s answer to the GoPro generation, but smarter—and sleeker.

Visually, the Oakley Meta HSTN stays true to Oakley’s sportswear DNA. You’re getting that futuristic, athletic edge, complete with PRIZM lenses for contrast in high-glare environments and lightweight O-Matter frames engineered for comfort and resilience. The glasses are IPX4 splash-resistant, meaning they can take sweat, light rain, and the occasional splash without complaint. Meta and Oakley are calling them a “new category” of smart eyewear—Performance AI—and the hardware backs it up.

Inside the frames, the specs are getting serious upgrades. A 12MP front camera now records in 3K resolution, a huge step up from the 1080p you get in Ray-Bans. The battery? Up to 8 hours of active use, with a case that extends that to a total of 48 hours. That’s almost double the battery life of earlier Meta glasses. There’s also a full audio suite with open-ear speakers and multi-mic noise suppression, meaning you can take calls or talk to Meta AI mid-run, mid-slope, or mid-set.

But what sets these apart is Meta AI’s real-time functionality. You can say things like “Hey Meta, how’s my form?” or “Translate that sign” and get instant, spoken responses. It’s the kind of seamless interaction that moves wearables from novelty to necessity. Oakley Meta HSTN also supports hands-free POV recording, photo capture, and direct social sharing.

Starting July 11, a special-edition gold-accented model will be available for $499, while standard colorways will retail for $399 later in the summer. For now, they’re launching in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and most of Europe, with rollouts coming to Mexico, India, and the UAE before the end of the year.

After selling over 2 million units of Ray-Ban Meta glasses, Meta is clearly ready to scale. With a target of 10 million smart glasses sold annually by 2026, the Oakley collaboration feels like a flex—one that blends sport, culture, and AI into something we haven’t seen before.

This isn’t just a tech launch. It’s Meta planting its flag in the future of wearable performance gear—and bringing Oakley’s legacy along for the ride.
