Debuting at the 54th World Economic Forum
Turkish new media artist Refik Anadol is set to introduce the world's first open-source generative AI-model focused on nature. The "Large Nature Model," to be revealed during the 54th annual World Economic Forum in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland, signifies a significant departure from existing AI models by sourcing data exclusively from nature's inherent intelligence.
In preparation for the unveiling, Anadol programmed the AI model to draw information from respected institutions such as the Smithsonian Institution and London's Natural History Museum. The primary objective of the project is to reshape societal perception and engagement with the natural world.
Anadol explains, "Our vision for the Large Nature Model goes beyond being a repository or a creative research initiative. It is a tool for insight, education, and advocacy for the shared environment of humanity. By blending art, technology, and nature, our model aims to raise awareness about environmental issues and inspire innovative solutions."
The initiative aligns with Anadol's broader project, DATALAND, and is positioned as a means to make environmental conservation tangible by finding connections among isolated archives. The Large Nature Model seeks to engage people on multiple sensory levels, encouraging a collective responsibility to act on environmental concerns.
Stay tuned for the official unveiling at the World Economic Forum, where the world will witness the integration of generative AI and nature in a novel approach to environmental awareness.
