Snoop Dogg Just Sold $12M in NFTs—on Telegram, Not OpenSea

Snoop Dogg has once again shaken up the NFT scene, this time by bypassing traditional platforms like OpenSea and dropping nearly one million NFTs directly through Telegram. The collection, called “Snoop Dogg Passport Series: Gifts,” consisted of 996,000 animated collectibles built on the TON blockchain. Prices ranged from $3 to $150, and the entire drop sold out in less than 30 minutes—generating an estimated $12 million in revenue. The project was executed using Telegram’s native wallet and gifting feature, signaling a shift toward more integrated, mainstream crypto experiences.

This isn’t Snoop’s first foray into Web3—he’s been in the space since 2013, accepted Bitcoin for albums, and even built virtual mansions in The Sandbox. But what makes this drop different is its scale and accessibility. Telegram’s interface made it frictionless: no external marketplaces, no crypto jargon. The top-tier “Westside Sign” tokens sold out in under two minutes, while lower-tier GIFs disappeared just as quickly. It’s a move that combines Telegram’s ambition to become a Web3 super app with Snoop’s ability to merge culture and tech.

Despite a 67% drop in NFT trading activity over the past month, this drop hints at a new model—low-cost, high-volume collectibles tied to celebrity clout and native digital platforms. With secondary market minting set to launch in the coming weeks, and Telegram signaling more on-chain utilities, this could be the blueprint for future NFT rollouts. Snoop isn’t just riding the Web3 wave—he’s steering it, one drop at a time.

New Track “Gifts” and Accompanying Video Highlight the Collection
Snoop also unveiled a new track titled “Gifts”, accompanied by an official music video that visually spotlights the Telegram collectibles. The video, released on YouTube just two days ago, prominently features the animated NFTs in context, blending the digital art with Snoop’s West Coast aesthetic.
